|Shimizu Lighthouse (Shimizu city, Shizuoka prefecture)

| This the oldest reinforced concrete
lighthouse remaining in its original form in Japan.
There are 7 vertical reinforcing rods imbedded in each side of the octagonal tower with reinforcing hoops provided about every 50 cm. The foundation is of non-reinforced concrete.
Preservation repair work together with earthquake reinforcement were implemented in 1994.
